Jewellery design in Africa
Nelson Mandela said once” A winner is a dreamer who never gives up”. We are creative dreamers. Being such in Namibia means that those dreams are just more colourful and divers then elsewhere. Namibia is among the most magical places on earth for creative minds and we are blessed to live here. We would like to take you on a journey with us and try to give you an impression how we experience Namibia with all our senses and how that inspires us to make jewellery the way we do it.
Diamonds
Diamonds from Namibia - These alluvial diamonds are thought to have originated from primary kimberlite pipes within the high central plateau in the interior of South Africa (more than 300 miles to the east). Over some 80 million years of geologic time, the diamonds were transported down to the Atlantic Ocean by the Orange and other river systems, and then carried northward along the coast by ocean currents to be deposited either on the shallow ocean bottom or along the coastline.
Gemstones
We work with all gemstones that we can lay our hands on. Most of them are mined here in Namibia. Tourmaline in all colours, Aquamarine, Beryl, Topaze, Dermatoid, different varieties of Garnet, Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Citrine, Tigers Eye, Pietersite, Sodalite and many more. But of course we also have excess to stones from elsewhere in the world, like Rubies, Sapphire, Tsavorite Garnet, Alexandrite, Peridot and many others. Some jewellery pieces are only made to underline the beauty of one gemstone and give it a frame. Other pieces are a perfect composition of shapes with one or more gemstones as a part of it.
